Mechanical Technician – Power Plant Operations

About the role

Wärtsilä Energy is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the Unity Power Plant team in South Sudan. The role involves ensuring reliable plant operation during assigned shifts, supporting the company’s mission to deliver sustainable energy solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the power plant in accordance with company policies, procedures and the operational plan.
• Recondition, overhaul and perform sub‑assembly of engine and auxiliary equipment components.
• Inspect mechanical and pneumatic systems, identify faults and implement corrective actions.
• Apply safety regulations, including isolation, lock‑out/tag‑out, and execute emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are in good condition.
• Prepare accurate work reports following established guidelines.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Required skills

• Mechanical maintenance of power‑plant equipment.
• Inspection and troubleshooting of pneumatic systems.
• Engine overhaul and sub‑assembly techniques.
• Lock‑out/Tag‑out safety procedures.
