Logistics Officer (Field Office Head of Logistics)

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a Logistics Officer to serve as the Head of Logistics for its field office in South Sudan. The role is based in either Bentiu or Renk and involves overseeing all logistics activities to ensure timely and efficient delivery of food assistance in a challenging humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the logistics team at the field office, ensuring compliance with WFP policies and standards.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor the movement of goods, including procurement, transport, warehousing and distribution.
• Develop logistics strategies that respond to the evolving security, climate and operational context of South Sudan.
• Maintain accurate logistics records, reports and performance indicators.
• Collaborate with partners, government authorities and other UN agencies to facilitate smooth operations.

Required profile

• Relevant higher education qualification in logistics, supply chain management or a related field.
• Significant experience in humanitarian logistics, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex logistics operations.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
