Health Officer

About the role

World Vision is seeking a Health Officer to lead primary health‑care services in a county of South Sudan. The role focuses on improving maternal and child health outcomes, expanding immunisation coverage and strengthening health‑facility performance in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support program development, including proposal writing, routine health assessments and donor liaison.
• Lead implementation of primary health‑care services, aiming to improve maternal and child health indicators and EPI coverage.
• Conduct supervisory visits to health facilities, ensure use of data collection tools and oversee weekly, monthly and quarterly monitoring.
• Manage relationships with county authorities, NGOs, UN agencies and donors, facilitating visits and responding to ad‑hoc requests.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, including success stories and incident logs.
• Oversee staff performance, recruitment, payroll support and capacity‑building for health workers.
• Monitor project assets, ensure proper tagging and compliance with World Vision policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in primary health‑care program implementation, preferably in low‑resource or humanitarian settings.
• Demonstrated ability to improve maternal and child health and immunisation outcomes.
• Experience coordinating with NGOs, UN organisations and donor agencies.
• Strong reporting and data‑management skills, including routine supervisory visits.
• Leadership experience managing health‑facility staff and budgets.
