Health Officer

About the role

The Health Officer will lead the implementation of lifesaving primary health care interventions in the Abyei administrative area. Working under the ECHO Health and Nutrition Project Manager and in close collaboration with local health authorities, health facility staff, and SCI colleagues, the role ensures both preventive and curative services reach the community.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, budget, and coordinate primary health care centre (PHCC) and unit (PHCU) activities.
• Supervise health facility staff and support capacity‑building initiatives.
• Identify training needs and deliver technical support to health workers and community volunteers.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the units.
• Facilitate Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions and promote community participation in health programmes.

Required profile

• Experience in primary health care management or similar public health programmes.
• Ability to work in field settings (approximately 95% field, 5% office).
• Strong coordination skills with local authorities, community leaders and project teams.
