Education Project Manager – Aweil, South Sudan

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an Education Project Manager to lead its Education in Emergency portfolio in the North Area Office, based in Aweil, South Sudan. The role will oversee the design, implementation and monitoring of education projects that support displaced and vulnerable children and youth.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidance and procedures.
• Contribute to the development of country, area and core‑competency strategies and initiate relevant projects.
• Coordinate and manage education project implementation, including activities, budgeting and documentation, in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements.
• Deliver technical interventions and maintain high technical quality of all project components.
• Prepare regular progress reports for the Area Programme Manager, Education Specialist and other stakeholders.
• Target the most vulnerable beneficiaries, exploring innovative approaches to improve protection and learning outcomes.
• Liaise with local authorities, partners and other key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.
• Promote the rights of displaced populations, including IDPs and returnees.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing education projects in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of education in emergencies, protection and displacement issues.
• Ability to develop strategies, mobilise resources and build partnerships.
• Excellent coordination, reporting and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Willingness to work in challenging environments and travel within South Sudan.
