Education Officer – PlayMatters 3.0 (PM3.0)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an Education Officer to lead the implementation of PlayMatters 3.0 (PM3.0), a multi‑year initiative funded by the LEGO Foundation. Based in South Sudan, you will work directly with schools, teachers, and local education authorities to embed Learning through Play (LtP) into the education system.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day implementation of PM3.0 activities in the field, ensuring alignment with workplans and budgets.
• Roll out the LtP Core Package, including teacher training, continuous professional development, classroom support, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers, school leaders, PTAs/SMCs, and local education authorities to strengthen practical application of LtP.
• Provide first‑line technical and operational support to national partners and field teams.
• Assist with routine monitoring, data collection, and reporting on programme progress.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian education and improving learning outcomes for children in crisis‑affected settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners, including NGOs, government bodies, and community groups.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple project components.

Required skills

• Experience in implementing education programmes in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Knowledge of Learning through Play methodologies and teacher capacity‑building.
• Proficiency in monitoring, data collection, and reporting processes.
