Education Officer

About the role

The Education Officer will support the International Rescue Committee’s Education for All in South Sudan (EFASS) project, delivering direct education programming in Aweil East and Aweil South counties. Working on the ground, the officer will coordinate with schools, parent‑teacher associations, teachers, facilitators and local education authorities to improve access to quality education for vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of education activities, including learner enrolment, retention and foundational learning recovery.
• Monitor and follow up with schools and communities to ensure timely delivery of program components.
• Support teachers through coaching, resource distribution and performance monitoring.
• Collect and analyse learner data to track progress and inform adjustments.
• Mobilise communities and facilitate communication between IRC field teams and local education stakeholders.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian education and experience working in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong ability to collaborate with diverse partners, including local authorities, NGOs and community groups.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with a focus on results.
• Knowledge of the South Sudan education system and local context.
• Willingness to travel frequently to remote field sites.
