Community Mobilizer

About the role

The Community Mobilizer will work under the supervision of the Education Officer to engage communities in Magwi, ensuring they understand and support Save the Children’s education and child‑protection programmes. The role involves building relationships with local leaders, parents and guardians to promote school attendance and address barriers to education.

Key responsibilities

• Organise community entry engagements, meetings and dialogues with gatekeepers and leaders.
• Raise awareness of child protection, psychosocial support and education initiatives.
• Support the establishment of community mobilisation teams and community‑based child protection mechanisms.
• Identify out‑of‑school children, children with disabilities and other vulnerable groups for referral to education services.
• Facilitate back‑to‑school and learning campaigns, and contribute to advocacy efforts.
• Monitor and evaluate community action plans and report progress to the Education Officer.
• Adapt working hours during major humanitarian emergencies as required.

Required profile

• Experience in community mobilisation, education programmes or child protection activities.
• Ability to work closely with community leaders, parents and local stakeholders.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel within the project area and work flexible hours.
