Clearing Officer – Nimule, South Sudan

About the role

The Clearing Officer will be responsible for ensuring the timely and compliant clearance of fuel, material trucks and customs‑paid consignments at our Nimule site in South Sudan. The role involves close coordination with local clearing agents, government authorities and the company’s finance and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the clearing agent to clear fuel and other material trucks entering South Sudan at Nimule.
• Clear customs‑paid materials and trucks, ensuring all documentation is complete.
• Submit monthly expense and petty‑cash reports to Finance.
• Provide monthly truck‑clearing data for invoice preparation.
• Liaise with Ministry of Customs and other government bodies in Nimule.
• Report truck release status and movements to HQ.
• Handle cash payments for truck releases and report weekly cash flow.
• Monitor daily and weekly usage of exemptions and import licences.
• Coordinate transshipment and documentation for accidents or technical issues.
• Prepare Form‑9 documentation for re‑exports and rescue team movements.
• Minimise parking fees, ensure timely border clearance, and track daily challenges.
• Arrange escorts for truck movements between Nimule and Nesitu.
• Maintain compliance with customs regulations and update HQ on procedures and charges.
• Seek optimal cost solutions for duty‑pay consignments.

Required profile

• Currently residing and working in South Sudan.
• Experience with customs clearance and liaison with government authorities.
• Ability to handle cash, prepare expense reports and manage petty cash.
• Familiarity with import licences, exemptions and related documentation.
• Capability to coordinate transshipment and manage documentation during accidents or technical problems.
