Chief of Service, Service Delivery

About the role

The Chief of Service, Service Delivery leads the technical and logistical support functions for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Juba. Reporting directly to the Director of Mission Support, the role ensures integrated service delivery across all mission components.

Key responsibilities

• Provide managerial and supervisory control over logistics, technical and operational support services within the Service Delivery pillar.
• Coordinate demand planning, forecasting and timely submission of goods and services to meet client requirements.
• Liaise with UN Headquarters, Regional Service Centres and other UN/non‑UN entities to ensure efficient support services.
• Develop and implement service delivery work plans, policies and procedures in line with UN regulations.
• Design and monitor KPIs to drive consistency and continuous improvement.
• Plan and coordinate logistics support for civilian, military and police deployments, incorporating gender‑specific needs.
• Act as workforce planner, hiring manager and first reporting officer for the Service Delivery pillar.
• Supervise an integrated mission support organization and participate in senior staff selections.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience managing multi‑functional logistics and support services.
• Proven ability to coordinate across UN Headquarters, regional centres and mission components.
• Strong planning, forecasting and KPI development skills.
• Experience overseeing deployment logistics for civilian, military and police personnel.
• Leadership experience as a hiring manager and workforce planner.
