Chief of Party, Emergency Response

About the role

Samaritans Purse is seeking a senior leader to head its Roving Response Program in Upper Nile and Unity State, South Sudan. The Chief of Party will provide strategic direction for multi‑sector emergency assistance while embodying the organization’s faith‑based mission.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of integrated emergency programs across Food Assistance, WASH, Health & Nutrition, Shelter, and NFIs.
• Oversee program managers to ensure timely delivery, target achievement, budget compliance, and adherence to Sphere and Core Humanitarian Standards.
• Manage the grant budget, prepare accurate financial reports for donors and internal headquarters.
• Coordinate with government authorities, UN agencies, other NGOs, and Samaritans Purse partners to align project objectives.
• Conduct regular field visits to support staff, resolve challenges, and identify new program opportunities.
• Supervise 5‑10 non‑supervisory and 2 supervisory staff, handling recruitment, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Humanitarian Assistance, Public Health, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in humanitarian or emergency response programming.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi‑sector projects and manage donor‑funded budgets.
• Strong commitment to Samaritans Purse’s Christian faith and statement of belief.
