Chief of Party, Emergency Response

About the role

Samaritans Purse is seeking a Chief of Party to lead its Emergency Response and Food Assistance program in Upper Nile and Unity State, South Sudan. The role combines program leadership, donor compliance, and field coordination while maintaining a personal commitment to the organization’s faith‑based mission.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the Food Assistance program, ensuring delivery within budget and project timelines.
• Ensure all activities comply with Samaritans Purse standards, international regulations, and donor requirements.
• Manage the grant budget, produce accurate financial reports for donors and headquarters.
• Engage with government authorities, UN agencies, humanitarian partners, and internal stakeholders to align project objectives.
• Conduct regular field visits to support staff, resolve challenges, and identify future program opportunities.
• Supervise 5‑10 non‑supervisory staff and 2 supervisory staff, handling hiring, training, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience leading large‑scale humanitarian food assistance projects.
• Strong knowledge of donor compliance, grant management, and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government and UN agencies.
• Commitment to Samaritans Purse’s Statement of Faith and ability to serve as a witness for Christ.
