WASH Officer (Emergency) – South Sudan

About the role

The WASH Officer will support emergency water, sanitation and hygiene activities in Uror, Jonglei State, coordinating rehabilitation of boreholes, construction of sanitation facilities and technical reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate WASH activities according to strategy, budgets and plans, including borehole rehabilitation and latrine construction.
• Develop technical specifications, bills of quantities and design plans for water and sanitation infrastructure.
• Manage WASH assistants, pump mechanics, community hygiene promoters and water user committees, preparing weekly progress reports.
• Conduct water quality testing, bio‑chemical analysis and documentation of water points.
• Represent NRC in WASH clusters and working groups at county level.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian WASH programmes, preferably in emergency contexts.
• Ability to work field‑based with high mobility and liaise with local authorities and communities.
• Strong reporting skills and ability to prepare technical manuals, guidelines and certificates.
