WASH Officer – Climate Resilience Programme

About the role

The WASH Officer will support the BRACE Programme, a climate‑resilience initiative for the education sector in South Sudan. Working under the National WASH Specialist, the officer will ensure high‑quality water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure is designed, built and monitored across schools, health and nutrition centres, and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to WASH needs assessments to inform programme design.
• Develop Bill of Quantities (BOQ), technical specifications and tender documents for WASH infrastructure works.
• Manage WASH contracts and oversee construction quality assurance for facilities such as latrines, incinerators, and soakage pits.
• Provide technical guidance on government‑approved designs and ensure compliance with climate‑resilient standards.
• Lead implementation of WASH activities at community, school and health‑centre levels, including awareness campaigns.
• Coordinate with the Consortium Manager, WASH/Hygiene Assistant and Infrastructure Engineer to integrate WASH with other thematic sectors.

Required profile

• Experience in planning, designing and supervising WASH infrastructure projects.
• Ability to produce BOQ, manage contracts and conduct quality inspections.
• Familiarity with government procurement processes and climate‑resilient construction standards.
• Strong analytical skills to support needs assessments and technical reporting.
