WASH Coordinator – Integrated WASH Programme

About the role

The Integrated WASH Programme in Abyei seeks a dedicated WASH Coordinator to lead water, sanitation and hygiene interventions in a highly vulnerable humanitarian context. You will work on‑site to improve access to safe water and sanitation, supporting health outcomes for displaced populations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and monitor WASH activities across the programme area, ensuring alignment with humanitarian standards.
• Supervise field staff, contractors and volunteers, providing technical guidance and capacity‑building.
• Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies and community leaders to harmonise efforts and avoid duplication.
• Manage procurement, logistics and budgeting for WASH supplies and infrastructure.
• Conduct regular field assessments, data collection and reporting on programme performance.
• Ensure compliance with child safeguarding policies and conduct mandatory police checks.

Required profile

• University degree in Water Resources, Public Health, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience managing WASH programmes in humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work in insecure environments and adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with fluency in English.
