Technical Advisor I – Outbreak Response Lead

About the role

The Technical Advisor I (Outbreak Response Lead) provides technical and operational leadership for epidemic‑prone disease preparedness and response under the STRIDES South Sudan program, focusing on Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) readiness along the South Sudan–DRC border.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of outbreak preparedness and response interventions for EVD, viral haemorrhagic fevers and other public health events.
• Coordinate rapid response operations from detection through containment and recovery.
• Develop, implement and regularly review national and sub‑national outbreak preparedness and contingency plans.
• Engage with Ministries of Health, National Public Health Institutes, WHO, UNICEF, CDC, NGOs and UN agencies to align response activities.
• Prepare outbreak response reports, situation reports, donor deliverables and technical briefs.
• Represent the project in health cluster meetings, emergency coordination forums and technical working groups.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in public health emergency preparedness and response, preferably with EVD or other high‑risk pathogens.
• Strong knowledge of surveillance systems, laboratory specimen transport, biosafety, PPE supply chains and rapid response team capacity building.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, international partners and multi‑disciplinary teams.
