Protection Officer – Prevention

About the role

The Protection Officer – Prevention provides safe, confidential, survivor‑centred GBV case management in line with approved procedures. The role ensures appropriate referrals, follow‑up and access to essential services for women and adolescent girls in humanitarian settings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an agreed caseload, including assessment, safety planning, referrals, follow‑up and case closure.
• Maintain informed consent, confidentiality and non‑discrimination while providing supportive listening and basic psychosocial support.
• Facilitate safe and timely referrals to health, mental health, legal and other services based on survivor needs.
• Identify urgent safety concerns, seek supervision and specialist support, and provide technical guidance to assistants.
• Maintain secure case records, update referral pathways and report aggregated service information without identifying survivors.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or related field (or relevant diploma with substantial experience).
• Minimum 2 years of GBV response or protection experience, including direct survivor‑centred case management.
• Experience working with women and adolescent girls in humanitarian contexts and coordinating with health, psychosocial and child‑protection services.
• Ability to mentor an assistant, recognise limits of competence and seek specialist support.
• Willingness and ability to travel to remote locations under approved security arrangements.
