Protection from Violence Officer - Rubkona

About the role

The National Referral Centre (NRC) is hiring a Grade 5 Protection from Violence (PfV) Officer for Rubkona, Unity State, on a 4-month national contract from 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027. The officer implements protection activities across project sites, providing confidential protection services to beneficiaries, and spends about half the time travelling to deliver mobile services. The post reports to the Protection from Violence Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the civilian self-protection portfolio, deliver individual response services and run protection monitoring, analysis and advocacy in line with Safe and Inclusive Programming principles.
• Lead protection from violence assessments and data collection, including household assessments, focus group discussions and key informant interviews, and identify hot spots and risks.
• Carry out actor and service mapping and develop referral pathways.
• Collaborate with PfV officers in direct service provision and give technical guidance on best practice.
• Produce regular reports and support the submission of internal and donor reports.
• Build working relationships with partner agencies, community leaders and service providers.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in social sciences or a related field.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in protection programming in a displacement settlement, with work with host communities, IDPs and returnees in remote environments.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Nuer is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in a humanitarian or recovery context and documented results in the role's responsibilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; data collection and reporting.
• Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, organisational and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
