Protection Coordinator – South Sudan (Juba)

About the role

The Protection Coordinator will lead and oversee both standalone and integrated protection programming for the Emergency Response Project in Juba, South Sudan. Reporting to the Emergency Response Project Manager, the role ensures effective planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of protection activities at the area level.

Key responsibilities

• Provide line management and technical guidance to ERRM protection staff.
• Develop and execute implementation, spending and procurement plans to meet project deadlines and targets.
• Manage the protection portfolio, including activities, budget, documentation and donor compliance.
• Produce regular progress reports and ensure high‑quality reporting to the Project Manager.
• Conduct field visits to monitor activity quality and support recruitment, onboarding and performance appraisal of protection staff.
• Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders and partners to promote the rights of IDPs, returnees and host communities.
• Contribute to protection strategy development, project proposals and identification of needs/gaps.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in humanitarian protection programming and coordination.
• Strong knowledge of the protection situation and priority needs of IDPs, returnees and host populations in South Sudan.
• Ability to manage budgets, procurement and donor reporting requirements.
• Experience supervising staff and building capacity within a multi‑partner environment.
