About the role
The Protection and Advocacy Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of World Vision South Sudan’s national advocacy strategy, ensuring child protection, participation and inclusion are embedded across all programmes. This role works closely with senior leadership, functional teams and external partners to influence policy and safeguard vulnerable children.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the national advocacy strategy and plans for child protection and humanitarian issues.
- Coordinate with functional, technical and zonal teams to integrate advocacy priorities into existing and upcoming programmes.
- Formulate policy positions on child hunger, malnutrition and violence against children specific to South Sudan.
- Lead the production of research, advocacy briefs and policy documents.
- Ensure compliance with World Vision’s Child Protection, GEDSI and safeguarding policies.
- Provide senior leadership with key messages and resources to foster a protective and inclusive culture.
- Co‑create and monitor an integrated child protection, participation and inclusion action plan.
- Support the FY26‑30 strategic objective “Children protected from violence and exploitation”.
- Deliver advocacy capacity building through the Advocacy Academy.
- Integrate child protection standards into all operational processes and promote mandatory reporting.
- Facilitate meaningful child participation and feedback mechanisms, including representation in the East Africa Child Advisory Group.
- Oversee risk assessments to prevent harm to children during programme implementation.
Required profile
- Proven experience in child protection, humanitarian advocacy or policy development, preferably in South Sudan or similar contexts.
- Strong coordination skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and levels of seniority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting policy briefs and delivering messages to leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to gender equality, disability inclusion and safeguarding principles.
- Ability to lead capacity‑building initiatives and mentor staff in advocacy practices.
