Mechanical Engineer – Power Plant Maintenance

About the role

Wärtsilä is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead maintenance activities at the Melut Pumping Station‑1 power plant. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of large‑capacity engines and associated auxiliaries while supporting the company’s sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance on Wärtsilä engines, fuel/LO separators, air compressors, fuel feeder & booster units, charge air filters and emergency backup systems.
• Inspect, repair, install and remove all types of genset equipment and auxiliaries, maintaining accurate equipment files, logs and drawings.
• Plan spare parts, manage inventory, implement Job Safety Analyses and oversee subcontractor performance.
• Develop and deliver training programmes for maintenance staff and enforce environmental and safety regulations.
• Coordinate shift maintenance activities, schedule work priorities and ensure plant performance targets are met.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–12+ years of hands‑on experience with large‑capacity (≥50 MW) engine‑based power plants.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage spare‑part inventories and implement training programmes.
