Information Management Officer

About the role

The Information Management Officer will support the Conflict‑related Violations Unit of the Human Rights Division at UNMISS in Juba. Reporting to the Unit Team Leader, the officer will enhance data collection, analysis and visualisation of human‑rights information to inform monitoring and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply methodological guidance, tools and documentation for human‑rights data collection and disaggregation.
• Liaise with OHCHR on case‑management queries, improve the usability of the human‑rights database and contribute to its further development.
• Create and maintain dynamic data visualisations, including maps, to illustrate trends for reports, presentations and online platforms.
• Review existing datasets from UN agencies, national institutions and civil‑society partners to support measurement of international human‑rights standards.
• Gather and standardise human‑rights data from multiple sources, design collection plans and maintain a comprehensive database for analytics.
• Produce analytical reports, dashboards and visualisations to support monitoring, compliance and strategic decisions.
• Organise training, technical assistance and consultations with mission components, UN agencies and information‑management experts.
• Provide advisory services on information‑management and record‑keeping practices, including classification, security and preservation.
• Research and evaluate new information‑technology applications for archives and records management and recommend deployments.
