ICT Systems Integration Support (Rigging)

About the role

This is a contracted ICT rigging position in South Sudan, working under the direct supervision of the Rigging Unit Supervisor in UNMISS. The contractor installs, maintains and repairs ICT equipment and must know rigging procedures and safety regulations, be able to work at heights, use hand and power tools and solve problems.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out site surveys, plan and provide requirements for mast and tower base foundations
• Take part in the construction and dismantling of communication masts and towers
• Prepare and ship communications materials to the sites
• Perform annual inspection and safety maintenance of all structures across the mission
• Install and maintain ICT infrastructure, including towers, antennas and cables
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations while working at heights
• Use hoists and rigging equipment to install and maintain telecom equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair telecom equipment and infrastructure
• Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used
• Stay up to date with industry trends and technology
• Provide product-specific training when required and give 24x7 on-call support during crises and emergencies
• Carry out any other ICT tasks assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in electronic, electrical, computer engineering, computer science, information technology or a related field
• At least 8 years of experience in the required technical areas
• Valid rigging certification from an internationally recognised body (e.g. Sope Rigging International, Fall Arrest & Basic Rescue International)
• Fluent written and spoken English
• National driver's licence and ability to drive a light motor vehicle with manual transmission
• Desirable: civil works experience, high-frequency/microwave/FM radio equipment, meteorological equipment, project management or ITIL certification, and experience in South Sudan
