Field Protection Associate (Expedited)

About the role

The Field Protection Associate will support IOM’s effort to strengthen protection, gender equality and inclusion across its humanitarian, development and peace‑building programmes in South Sudan. The role focuses on delivering protection and gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention and response activities while building the capacity of IOM staff and partner organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the mainstreaming of protection, gender equality and inclusion in multi‑sectoral humanitarian response and development projects.
• Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of protection and GBV prevention and response programmes.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to IOM teams and partner organisations on protection and GBV risk mitigation.
• Contribute to coordination mechanisms, including clusters and humanitarian hubs, to ensure protection considerations are integrated.
• Document lessons learned and best practices to inform future programming.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in protection, GBV prevention or response within humanitarian settings.
• Understanding of gender equality and inclusion principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including UN agencies, NGOs and government partners.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
