About the role
We are seeking an Emergency Response Procurement and Logistics Officer to join our International Projects team in South Sudan. Through humanitarian work, Samaritan's Purse aims to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Key responsibilities
- Drive overall logistical excellence to ensure projects run smoothly, on time, and with the highest integrity.
- Lead procurement activities with precision and transparency, maintaining systems, creating procurement packets, tracking commodities, and reporting status to senior leadership.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with customs officials, airport authorities, NGOs, military logisticians, and external merchants to remove barriers and enable rapid, compliant aid delivery.
- Support field‑operation decision‑making by providing timely recommendations to the Area Coordinator.
- Dedicate 15 % of time to direct interaction with beneficiaries, promoting their welfare within the ministry context.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least four years of procurement and logistics experience (or equivalent combination).
- Two to three years of emergency response procurement and logistics experience in complex international settings preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret MOUs, agreements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including report writing and public speaking.
- Proficiency in calculating discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and other quantitative figures.
- Willingness to travel to remote fields, endure austere living conditions, and operate in fluid security environments.
- Completion of 12 credit hours of college‑level Biblical Studies (or ability to complete after hire).
