County Education Officer (Aweil East/South)

About the role

The County Education Officer will be seconded to the County Education Office in either Aweil East or Aweil South, supporting decentralized education system strengthening under the EFASS project. The role links county education authorities, schools, communities, and IRC teams to improve planning, monitoring, data use, and inclusive participation, especially for girls and vulnerable learners.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource within the County Education Office, facilitating coordination between education officials, schools, and EFASS teams.
• Support county‑level education planning, implementation oversight, and follow‑up with schools and education actors.
• Provide on‑the‑job coaching to County Education Department staff and Payam Education Supervisors on school supervision, lesson observation, and quality improvement.
• Assist schools in developing and reviewing School Development Plans, budgets, and governance structures.
• Strengthen financial accountability for capitation grants and learner support, coordinating with PFM specialists and cash‑transfer teams.
• Promote regular collection, reporting, and use of education data through systems such as SSSAMS, and support data‑driven decision‑making.
• Engage communities to increase enrolment, attendance, and retention of girls and marginalized learners, addressing financial, social, and cultural barriers.
