Communications Manager

About the role

The Communications Manager will lead strategy, advocacy, and media activities for World Vision South Sudan, supporting the organization’s mission to protect vulnerable children and promote peacebuilding across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update communications and external engagement plans aligned with humanitarian‑development‑peacebuilding contexts and World Vision’s global brand.
• Produce an annual communications plan with clear deliverables and metrics in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Lead the communications team and field point‑persons, ensuring effective partnership and performance.
• Provide evidence‑based messaging for advocacy on child protection, violence against children, and civilian safety.
• Prepare advocacy reports, position papers, and concept notes for policy dialogue.
• Source, manage, and produce multimedia content (videos, photos, stories) and written materials such as annual reports and case studies.
• Oversee content management systems (Story Hub, Content Flow, Kissflow) and coordinate freelance or consultant contributions.
• Plan and execute media and social‑media campaigns, collecting and publishing multi‑media advocacy stories.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in communications, advocacy, or media within humanitarian or development settings.
• Strong understanding of child protection and fragile‑context issues.
• Ability to collaborate with senior staff, field teams, and external partners.

Required skills

• Proficiency with content management tools such as Story Hub, Content Flow, Kissflow.
