Protection Officer – Response

About the role

The Protection Officer – Response will deliver confidential, survivor‑centred GBV case management in Ayod, supporting survivors to make informed choices and access coordinated services. The role works closely with a GBV Case Worker Assistant to ensure safe, consistent support.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an agreed caseload using approved procedures: engagement, informed consent, assessment, safety planning, referrals, follow‑up and case closure.
• Provide supportive listening, basic psychosocial support and facilitate timely access to health, legal and specialised mental‑health services.
• Recognise urgent safety concerns, seek supervision promptly and apply appropriate consent procedures for adolescent survivors.
• Provide daily technical guidance to the assistant, review documentation and escalate complex cases to a qualified supervisor.
• Maintain updated referral contacts, ensure continuity of care during roving visits and handovers, and protect case confidentiality.
• Keep secure case records, report aggregated service information and participate in supervision and safeguarding arrangements.

Required profile

• Degree in social work, psychology, social sciences or related field (or relevant diploma with substantial experience).
• Minimum two years of GBV response or protection experience, including direct survivor‑centred case management.
• Training and competence in GBV case management, informed consent, safety planning and confidential documentation.
• Experience working with women and adolescent girls in humanitarian settings and coordinating with health, psychosocial and child‑protection providers.
• Ability to mentor an assistant, recognise limits of competence and seek specialist support.
