About the role
The Programme Analyst – Maternal Health will be based in the UNFPA Country Office in Juba, South Sudan. The role acts as a bridge between national‑level health policy and sub‑national implementation, providing technical and programme support to integrate Maternal Health and Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC) into both development and humanitarian streams.
Key responsibilities
- Support the SRHR Specialist in managing the national maternal health portfolio and coordinating with the Ministry of Health at central level.
- Provide oversight to field hubs to ensure consistent service delivery, reporting and alignment with national standards.
- Lead and contribute to national‑level Technical Working Groups on Maternal Health and EmONC.
- Assist in aligning sub‑national streams (states and counties) with national strategies and resource allocations.
- Contribute to the UNFPA Strategic Plan implementation, focusing on SDG 3 and SDG 5 outcomes.
Required profile
- Relevant academic background in public health, maternal health, or a related field.
- Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in South Sudan or similar settings.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with government ministries and multi‑sectoral partners.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills to ensure coherent programme implementation.
Required skills
- Knowledge of Maternal Health and Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC) guidelines.
- Familiarity with UNFPA programmes and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3, SDG 5).
