Head of Survival – Health, Nutrition & WASH

About the role

The Head of Survival leads Save the Children’s Health and Nutrition portfolio in South Sudan, integrating Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions. Based in the Programme Quality and Impact team, the role provides strategic direction, technical oversight and ensures programmes are evidence‑based, safe and responsive to the needs of children, women and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and drive thematic strategy for health, nutrition and WASH across humanitarian and development programmes.
• Ensure technical quality, safety and evidence‑based design of all Survival interventions.
• Lead resource mobilisation, learning and sector representation at national and international levels.
• Collaborate with Operations, government, partners and technical specialists to strengthen health and nutrition systems.
• Provide technical guidance through qualified specialists and supervise thematic staff.
• Represent Save the Children with ministries, donors and other external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in health, nutrition and/or WASH programming in humanitarian contexts.
• Proven ability to provide strategic leadership and technical oversight at country level.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with governments, donors and partners.
• Experience in resource mobilisation, learning and sector advocacy.
• Willingness to travel frequently and adapt working hours during emergencies.
