Deputy Emergency Response Manager

About the role

The Deputy Emergency Response Manager will support the International Projects team in South Sudan, helping to design, launch and oversee lifesaving relief operations for displaced and vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project budgets in line with Samaritan’s Purse financial guidelines.
• Design and implement new emergency‑response projects and logistics processes.
• Coordinate security protocols for aid distribution and keep beneficiary lists up‑to‑date.
• Partner with the Emergency Response Manager to set strategy and represent the organization to partners, authorities and stakeholders.
• Document impact and produce monthly and quarterly activity, outcome and financial reports.
• Spend at least 25 % of time directly caring for and safeguarding children, youth and adults at risk.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and minimum two years experience in disaster contexts or cross‑cultural management.
• Strong public speaking ability and effective communication with diverse audiences.
• Proven capacity to maintain open communication lines and coordinate scheduling changes.
• Ability to understand complex security situations and advise program design.
• Experience coordinating activities with other agencies and building positive working relationships.
