Logistics Specialist (Temporary, 6 months)
UNICEF · Khartoum
Job description
About the role
UNICEF is seeking a Logistics Specialist for a temporary six‑month assignment in Juba, South Sudan. The role supports the organization’s humanitarian response in a context of ongoing violence, large‑scale displacement and severe access constraints. The humanitarian situation in South Sudan’s Jonglei State remains dire due to continued violence, large‑scale displacement, and increasing access constraints. Humanitarian infrastructure has suffered extensive damage, including widespread looting of NGO compounds and the County hospital, significantly constraining the immediate resumption of operations. Protection concerns remain high, with recent gender‑based violence incidents reported and strong fears of renewed clashes, hindering displaced communities from returning. Markets remain non‑functional, and many displaced women and children lack shelter, safe drinking water and sanitation services. Nutrition supplies have been unavailable for months, exacerbating vulnerabilities and increasing the risk of disease.
