IT Operations Officer (Telecommunication)

About the role

The incumbent will be based in Juba, South Sudan, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Emergency Telecommunications System and supporting the development of telecommunications infrastructure in partnership with UNDSS. Reporting to the Head of IT, the role leads a national team and provides technical guidance across all field offices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead deployment, installation, maintenance and support of WFP standard emergency telecom and security communication systems.
• Oversee emergency preparedness, business continuity and disaster recovery planning for telecommunications.
• Manage telecommunications asset inventories, frequency allocations, licensing records and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with UN agencies and UNDSS on inter‑agency telecom projects, radio programming and security communications.
• Lead and mentor a small team, providing coaching, training and performance monitoring.

Required profile

• Supervisory technical experience in telecommunications, preferably in humanitarian or security contexts.
• Proven ability to plan, design, implement and review telecom projects.
• Strong coordination skills with UN agencies and external partners.
