About the role
UNICEF is recruiting a Child Protection Officer for a six‑month fixed‑term assignment in Wau, South Sudan. The role focuses on strengthening gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention and response, supporting adolescent girls and women, and contributing to the Communities Care programme.
Key responsibilities
- Support and coordinate multi‑sectoral GBV case management and psychosocial support services.
- Strengthen the capacity of national partners, including women‑led organisations, to deliver GBV services in line with UNICEF minimum standards.
- Monitor service quality, identify barriers to access, and propose mitigation measures.
- Collect and analyse data for reporting and contribute to programme planning and risk mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with UNICEF policies on child protection, safeguarding, and SEA.
Required profile
- University degree in social work, child protection, public health, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in GBV response, child protection, or humanitarian programmes.
- Knowledge of the South Sudan context and ability to work in insecure environments.
- Strong communication skills in English and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
